President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Injured Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Donald Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Devastating Event

Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Vigils across West Virginia have been held in their honor.

White House Call

The president stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the families of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” the president told reporters. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Response

Mourners assembled over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been working with the military unit as part of Trump’s national effort to support law enforcement in the capital.

Remembering Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that instructors wished for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that lifted people around her,” Hankins, the principal of her previous school, told the media. “She was kind, caring and always eager to help others.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy caused the administration to pause asylum applications and halt issuing entry permits to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of his local high school, per the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she also intended to meet with Wolfe’s family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a military police officer with distinction, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” he informed the audience at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to last forever.”
