Spurs Boss Frank Labels Vicario Booers 'Not Real Supporters'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Tottenham and Raise Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur supporters who booed keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters" by boss Thomas Frank.

Spurs conceded a pair of goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, registering their 10th top-flight at home defeat of 2025.

But the main talking point was Fulham's next goal when Vicario lost the ball far outside his box.

The goalkeeper came out to deal with a long ball and took the ball near the sideline.

However, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italian spun and attempted to clear away, but slipped as the ball glanced off Harry Wilson and was controlled by King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfield player Wilson, who curled a strike into the goal from the sideline recorded at thirty-six point six metres.

Seconds later when the ball went to Vicario again, a number of Spurs supporters jeered him.

The team were jeered off at half-time, with the side 2-0 behind, and again at full-time.

A particular of those jeering sessions truly irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention some of our fans apparently jeered the incident and jeered following, which, in my opinion is totally unacceptable," the Danish manager commented about the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals cannot be real Tottenham fans that act that way. Alright jeering following the game, no problem, but when we are in play, we are supporting each other, we are behind each other going forward."

Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a early lead before Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Tottenham in an better second period performance.

Former top-flight goalkeeper Hart remarked that the second score was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly understand the supporters' frustration," Hart added. "I know the part Vicario is playing. He's a excellent team player, he is a real figure in the locker room but ultimately you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily involved in what turned out to be the decisive goal."

'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario After the Match

Italy national team the keeper is in his 3rd season with Tottenham.

He said following the match that he had to accept the criticism.

"The second goal was a error of mine, I accept accountability for it," he said.

"My aim was to kick the ball far and I simply struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an more difficult mountain to climb."

He said being booed "comes with football".

"I'm a big man, what can I say?" he continued. "The team can't be affected by the circumstances in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do as they see fit.

"It is on us to remain increasingly calm, to concentrate on our own performance. The team is missing in composure and calmness to overturn outcomes. Today is a poor defeat and it is hard to accept."

'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Line'

In spite of Vicario's mistake, it was far from an easy score for Harry Wilson to score.

In fact it was the second most distant top division goal of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre strike for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open goal to target.

Ten moments passed between the keeper coming out of his box and Wilson striking – which was five seconds after the kick.

"I felt like the goalkeeper was away from the area for a long time," he remarked.

"It amazed me none of the defenders returned to the goal line. When none of them covered the goal, my interest sparked a bit.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped too, which gave me a little extra opportunity. After that it was all about attempting to make the right connection and place it towards goal. I had a good feeling, the moment it came off my boot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Bad Spell, Everything Seems to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake led headlines, this was an overall bad performance for Tottenham to extend their home woes.

The match was their tenth home loss of the year in the Premier League, a joint club statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home games against the manager's former club Brentford and champions Liverpool to come prior to the end of the year.

Just a single of those wins have come after Frank replaced Ange Postecoglou in the off-season.

"If you are behind 2-0 after the opening, there is a mountain to climb," stated the boss.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects seems to work against you too – the opening was a redirected shot, the next is a error from Vic.

"The outcome puts us in a position where we have lost an additional game. Every game has a unique story, today we were defeated in the early stages.

"We simply need to keep working. The second half was much better and with luck an aspect we can use to learn."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight home London derbies for the first time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are recording 9.5 shots and 3.2 shots on target per match in the Premier League – their lowest rates on record in a single season (since at least the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Fulham midfield player Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He must take the criticism," Murphy said. "He has accepted a high profile role at a huge team with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.

"The performances at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
